Overview
Initially constructed in 1996, then reconstructed in 2023, the CSC TAPPI Lab is a state-of-the-art testing facility that serves both internal manufacturing needs and the Corrugated Supplies customer base. A second TAPPI lab was constructed at our Conyers, Georgia facility, providing additional resources and capabilities. Having an in-plant laboratory helps us better serve our customers in a more efficient and timely manner. It gives us access to instantaneous results, and allows us to be able to make corrective adjustments and changes immediately, when necessary. Below are several areas where our operation analysts and technicians have made effective use of the TAPPI Laboratory:
- To monitor, control and improve sheet quality.
- To monitor and improve the effectiveness of starch and adhesive bond.
- Experimentation at the corrugator to improve ECT strength.
- It can be used for troubleshooting and the quick resolution of manufacturing problems; and follow-up testing can quickly assure that the problem has been solved.
- Assurance to our customers that we maintain a high level of quality.
- It gives our sales force the quality knowledge and confidence that they need, and allows them to use the lab as an additional selling point; we are not the typical run of the mill sheet feeder.
The bottom line is: IF YOU DON'T MEASURE IT, HOW CAN YOU CONTROL IT!
